James Edward Stricklett Passes

James Edward Stricklett, son of a pioneer family, died in his home in Blair, May 28th, 1937, apparently of heart trouble. The deceased was born September 20th, 1875, on a homestead, three and a half miles, southwest of Blair, and his entire life was spent in this community.

He was married October 31st, 1896, to Miss Iva Allen. For a number of years they farmed near DeSoto but finally moved to Blair, where he built the team works. To Mr. and Mrs. Stricklett, four children were born, three of whom are still living. One daughter, Mrs. Helen Ray; proceeded him in death. Three sons, Clark and Edgar of Omaha, and Dale, his wife, and one remaining sister, Miss Cora Stricklett, of this city, and five great-grandchildren, deeply mourn the passing of a kind and diligent parent, husband, and brother.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at two o'clock, from the Methodist Church, with Reverend Bryant Howel D.D. officiating, and internment was made in the Blair Cemetery. Thus, another of the earlier settlers have gone, his life a mere memory, as gradually the book closes on that age of formation of a society build on the virgin soil of Washington County.
