Peggy Linne (Hurst) Clapper, born November 18th, 1942 passed August 14th, 2026 at age 83.

Preceded in death, her husband, Don Lee Clapper, her brothers Jon and Michael Hurst, her parents Joseph F. and Anne D. Hurst (Jensen) her eldest daughter Deborah (Debbie) S. Archer and her son-in-law Dan R. Adkins, Jr.

She leaves her sister Barbara J. Kirkman, son-in-law Steven F. Archer, children Donna R. Johnson, Kevin S. Clapper (Christy) and Diane L. Adkins and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Through the years, she opened her heart and her home to many people and animals during troubled times.

She was a daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to care for others in any capacity she could. She was the toughest, yet sweetest and most generous person her family ever knew. She will be missed by many. Rest in Peace and God Bless.

Peggy graduated from Benson High School in 1960. she attended Omaha College for a year and decided that path was not hers to take. She worked at movie theater on Military Road in Omaha when she met her future husband, Don Clapper. Don and Peggy married September 5, 1964.

Don served in the Army, then began his career as a Postal Carrier for the Benson Post Office, and Peggy began starting their family in addition to running a daycare for children in their home near Harrison Elementary. During her time as a caretaker for children and a mother of four, she was engaged in all aspects of extracurriculars for her children. She had the girls enrolled in tap and ballet, even sewing the costumes for everyone in the dance company for recitals. Her generosity and talents were remarkable. She enjoyed caring for all those children.

After having her 4 children reach school age, she and Don bought a farmhouse in the country and the children began schooling in Blair, Nebraska.

Peggy then began her career as a Rural Carrier for the United States Post Office (USPS). She started at Boystown and later transferred to Millard. She loved her job and the people and animals on her route. She worked long hours to provide service the only way she knew how, through excellence and grace. During her career at the Post office, she became a Union Steward for her region and that filled her with joy and purpose yet again. She wanted to make a difference to protect good people from inappropriate or hateful terminations. She researched and read policies and filed grievances to save others' jobs or mistreatment. All of this was on top of her delivering the mail and raising four kids. She was exemplary in everything she did. As a Union Steward, she traveled to regional and national conferences in cities like St. Louis and Washington, D.C.

After 30 years working at the Post Office, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent extensive surgery. At that time, she decided to retire and enter the next stage of her life. Being the best grandmother to multiple grandbabies and eventually great-grandbabies, she enjoyed this new role in her life. She was a charismatic and beautiful woman, and her ability to be there for so many people was her calling in this life. She will be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing Peggy.

Services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Chapel. There will be a Visitation on Thursday (8/20/2026) from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral Service on Friday (8/21/2026) at 3:00 PM.
