Gilbert Echtenkamp, 77

Services for Gilbert H. Echtenkamp were held on Tuesday, September 20 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Mr. Echtenkamp lived at 402 Cedar in Fremont.

Services were conducted by Rev. Donald Levenhagen with Ludvigsen Mortuary in charge of arrangements and burial in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Mr. Echtenkamp was born on April 5, 1911, in Arlington to Louis and Bertha Echtenkamp. The family farmed in the Arlington area. Mr. Echtenkamp graduated from the Concordia Teachers College in Seward.

He married Florence Kaufeld on June 25, 1938. She passed away on October 18, 1965. On October 25, 1968, he married Thelma Seaman Stanley. She died on January 5, 1988.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Judy Gilbert Holstein of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Esther Hilgenkamp of Arlington; two step children and three grandchildren.

Mr. Echtenkamp was a teacher at the Emmaus Lutheran School in Indiana, Principal of Bethlehem Lutheran School at Denver and came to Fremont State Employment office until retirement with the Nebraska Job Service.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served in many offices and was Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Fremont.

Pallbearers were: Paul Timm, Archie White, Emil Mares, Morace Dritley, Donald Mead and Rusty Hilgenkamp.

Memorials can be sent to the Trinity Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund or the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis Foundation.
