Mark A. Madsen, 52

Mark A. Madsen, 52, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at his home in Blair, surrounded by love from his family and friends after a courageous battle against cancer.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home; family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mark Albert Madsen was born Nov. 4, 1959, to Albert and Alice (Thompson) Madsen. He was baptized and was a confirmed member of First Lutheran Church in Blair. He graduated from Blair High School in 1978.

He worked for the Chicago Northwestern railroad for 10 years before starting his own construction company, M & K Framing in 1988.

On Oct. 21, 1989, he married Shona Schuerman at First Lutheran Church in Wilber.

Mr. Madsen was a hard worker, faithful husband, and a good father. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a fan of the Huskers and NASCAR. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shona, and son, Zachery; his mother, Alice; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Steven of Bellevue, and Douglas and Sue of Blair; a sister, Tia Weis of Spokane, Wash.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and LaVae Schuerman of Wilber; brother-in-law and wife, Harley and Patti Schuerman of Wilber; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Madsen.
