Funeral Held For Charlotte Echtenkamp

Funeral services were held Friday, September 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church northeast of Wayne for Charlotte Emma Echtenkamp, 76, who died September 22, 1981, at the Wayne Care Center in Wayne, Nebraska.

Rev. Ronald Holling and Vicar Lloyd Redhage conducted the services. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery.

Charlotte Emma Echtenkamp was born March 27, 1905, on a farm near Arlington to William and Mary Laaker Dickmeyer. She was confirmed on May 24, 1981, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Arlington.

She married Herbert Echtenkamp on January 27, 1929, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They farmed northeast of Wayne until her husband's death in 1954. She moved to Wayne in 1955. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and her husband.

She is survived by one son, Marvin Echtenkamp, Wakefield, Nebraska: Four grandchildren, Leah Echtenkamp, Neligh; Gerald Echtenkamp, Wakefield; Alan Echtenkamp, Lincoln; and Roger Echtenkamp, Wakefield; and two great-grandchildren also survive her.

Pallbearers were Arnold Roeber, Gene Fredrickson, Merton Ellis, Elmer Schrieber, Leo Dowlinge, and Larry H. Echtenkamp.

The Immanuel Church Choir sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "I'm But A Stranger Here".

Hiscox-Schumacher Funeral Home in Wayne was in charge of arrangements for the services.
