Mardelle Scarlett, 85

Mardelle Scarlett, 85, of Blair, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at Crowell Memorial Home. Services were Thursday, May 20, at the Herman Cemetery.

Mardelle Scarlett was born Dec. 26, 1913, to Dan and Lucy (Kimbell) Sheets on a farm near Herman. She graduated from Herman High School in 1931.

On March 9, 1936, she married Ralph L. Scarlett. The couple had three children. One daughter died at birth.

She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Herman in 1948 and remained active in the work of the church until she moved away from the area.

She lived in Herman during the early stages of her married life and in 1951, she and the family moved to Commerce City, Colo. In 1964, the family returned to Nebraska settling in Blair.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Hansen of Denver, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Karen Scarlett of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Metzler of Blair, and brother, Elmer Sheets of Tekamah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; an infant daughter; four sisters; and five brothers.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
