OLD SETTLER PASSES

Funeral services were held last Friday, Jan. 10 from the Danish Lutheran church for Mrs. J. P. S. Jensen, an old and highly respected lady of this city. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.

Catherine Maria Christensen was born in Utah September 2, 1856 and passed away at her home in Blair January 8, 1930 after a short illness.

At the age of two years she came, with her parents, to Nebraska, traveling by covered wagon from the west and settling at Decatur. Later they moved to Omaha. She was united in marriage to J. P. S. Jensen January 5, 1877, and in 1886 moved to a farm west of Blair where they lived until two years ago when they moved to Blair, residing on east Washington street.

To this union eleven children were born, three having preceded her in death. Besides the aged husband, the eight children remaining are Mrs. Jens C. Peterson, Mrs. Hans M. Anderson, Alice MaAvoy, Jim, Louie, John and Fred, all of Blair and vicinity, and Mrs. Emil Leuenberger of Omaha. There are seventeen grandchildren.

The deceased was a good mother, a loyal friend and a kind neighbor. She was a great worker and was always busy helping others. She will be greatly missed by relatives and friends
