Johannes Jensen died at the home of his eldest daughter Mrs. H. J. Hansen, at 1 o’clock last Friday morning, after an illness of about six weeks. He had leakage of the heart for some years and it finally caused a dropsical trouble from impaired circulation.

The funeral was held in the yard at the Hansen home at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, owing to the ban upon inside gatherings of a public nature. Rev. A. Theo. Schultz spoke in the Danish language and Rev. A. M. Anderson in the English language.

Deceased was born in Denmark Dec. 11, 1846, and would have been 72 at his next birthday. He came to America in 1869 and worked in the shops at Council Bluffs for several years. He was married there to Mrs. Karen Feldt Sorensen in 1871 and soon thereafter they came to this county and settled upon a farm in the Orum neighborhood, which was their home until 1892, when they moved to this city. Mrs. Jensen died six years ago last April.

Five daughters and one son survive him, Mrs. H. J. Hansen, Mrs. H. Skov Nielsen, and Mrs. N. H. Debel, of this city, Mrs. Nels Nelsen, of Kennard, Mrs. Maria Thompson, of Elkhorn, Ia., and Nels Martin Jensen of Casper, Wyo.

Mr. Jensen was a faithful member of the Danish Lutheran Church and lived a clean, upright and honorable life. He was a good husband and father, and was therefore a good citizen also. The surviving family have the sympathy of many friends.

Johannes Jensen died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. J. Hansen, at 1 A.M., October 18, aged 71 years, 10 months. Mr. Jensen was born near Horsen, Denmark, and came to America in the early 60's settling in Washington County in 1874. He lived on a farm near Orum until 1905, when he removed to Blair, where he has since resided. The immediate cause of his death was heart trouble and lack of circulation. One son and five daughters survive him. They are, Mrs. H. J. Hansen, Mrs. H. Skov Nielsen, and Mrs. N. H. Debel, of this city, Mrs. Nels Nelsen, of Kennard, Mrs. Maria Thompson, of Elk Horn, Ia., and Nels Martin Jensen of Casper, Wyo.

Johannes Jensen, aged seventy-two years, died from heart disease, with which he had been afflicted for many years, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.J. Hansen, on last Friday morning.
