JOHN S. JENSEN, 81, DIED AUGUST 27th IN OMAHA

John S. Jensen, a native of Washington County, died Friday, August 27th at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha. He was 81 years of age. He was born at Kennard November 3, 1894.

He was a World War I veteran.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a young boy and he clung to that faith throughout his life.

After completing his tour of duty with the Armed Forces he returned to this area and then moved to Omaha where he became an employee of the American Express. He stayed with this firm throughout his active working life.

He is survived by two sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Esther Rasmussen and Mrs. Emma Matz, both of Blair. The brothers: Fred W. Jensen, Blair, Iver Jensen, Albany, Oregon and a half brfother, Owen T. Nelson of North Platte.

He never married, but he faithfully supported several children through Mission Work projects.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 30th at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. The Rev. Wayne Josephson conducted the service.

Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home of Blair, was made in the Kennard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold R. Rasmussen, Tekamah; Delbert Jensen, Wakefield; Robert Danielson, Oakland; Kenneth Jensen, Blair; Floyd Matz, Council Bluffs and Jerald Matz, of Omaha.
