MARY E. JENSEN, 88

Mary E. Jensen, 88, of Blair, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair following a short illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Campbell-Aman Funeral home with graveside services at the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mary Elizabeth Jensen was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Blair to Naomi (Curry) and Ole Jensen. She attended school in Blair.

On Sept. 29, 1940, she married Donald "Bud" Jensen of Blair. The couple operated a Skelly Station at the corner of 19th and Washington Streets from 1952 until 1980. While her husband performed all the mechanical operations, Mrs. Jensen worked the gas pumps from early morning to evening each day.

After selling the station, Mrs. Jensen began working at Memorial Community Hospital and worked in housekeeping for 18 years. She also managed the U-Lock Storage units for several years.

She knitted sweaters and made quilts for many of the children in Blair and the MCH Auxiliary. She also mowed several lawns of her neighbors for many years. One of her greatest joys was helping her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

She is survived by her son and daughrter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Sarah Jensen of Blair; two granddaughters, Adrienne and Chelsey Jensen of Blair; 14 nieces and nephews, including Barb and Duane Moffatt of Blair, Jean Anne and Skip Andersen of Fremont, and Steve and Mo Jensen of Bennington; sisters-in-law, Elaine Jensen of Mesa, Ariz., and Gladys Jensen of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; baby Jensen; and brothers, Roy and Robert Jensen.

Memorials are suggested to the Blair Rescue Squad.
