Jean Petersen, 83

Three grandsons were one of her greatest joys

Jean Petersen, 83, of Herman, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Jean Petersen was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Omaha to Frank and Agnes (Kment) Povondra. She grew up in South Omaha and graduated from Omaha South High School.

On Feb. 9, 1963, she married Curtis Petersen. After their wedding, she moved to the Petersen family farm with her husband where they made their home and she helped him on the farm.

Mrs. Petersen enjoyed bowling, polka dancing and gardening. Her three grandsons were one of her greatest joys.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis, of Herman; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Shelle Petersen of Herman; three grandchildren; sisters Ceil Rynazewski and Marilyn Bouckaert.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Joe Povondra.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church Building Fund.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
