RICHARD E. "DICK" JENSEN, 69

Richard E. Jensen, 69, of Fremont, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Revs. Mark Grorud and Paul Erdal will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Richard E. "Dick" Jensen was born Sept. 5, 1930, to Swen A. and Mildred (Hansen) Jensen in Omaha. He grew up and lived in Omaha until the age of 13, when his family moved to Blair. He graduated from Blair High School in 1947 and worked as a project engineer at Northwestern Bell Telephone Conmpany from 1948 until his retirement in 1983. After he retired, he was a consultant engineer for the communications field. He previously attended Midland College in Fremont and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fremont and served on the church council; a member of the Fremont Housing Authority Board from 1985 to the present; a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 of Fremont; and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

On oct. 5, 1949, he married Gloria Christensen in Blair. He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in -law, Gary and Diedre Jensen of Westminster, Colo. and Randall and Cheryl Jensen of Monument, colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Tom Bloom of Fremont; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Charles Anthony of Portland, Ore.; mother-in-law, Margaret Christensen of Blair; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl (Bonnie) Nielsen of Woodland Park, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church in Fremont or the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice Program. Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremonbt is in charge of arrangements.
