LaVerne E. Rabe, 94

LaVerne E. Rabe, 94, of Hooper, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Hooper Care Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, with family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m.

LaVerne E. Giesselmann was born Jan. 2, l9l8, in Arlington to H.G. Ernst and Martha (Hinnerichs) Giesselmann. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran and Brinkman School, Arlington, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1936.

She married Jerome Rabe on June 30, 1940, at Fremont. The couple farmed in Washington County for more than 50 years and were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hooper.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Robert Swedberg of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Susan Swedberg and Gail Obermeyer of Denver; Rob (Natasha) Swedberg of Denver/Riga Latvia; and Tyler (Marina) Swedberg of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Casey Obermeyer of Denver and Brianna Swedberg of Riga, Latvia.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hooper Care Center and Odyssey Hospice.
