Robert K. Goolsby, 76

Robert K. Goolsby, 76, lost his battle with cancer and died Jan. 15, 2012, at his home in Tekamah, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. Interment was at the Verdon Cemetery.

Robert Keith Goolsby was born Feb. 11,1935, in Verdon to Ralph M. and Dora S. (Lippold) Goolsby. He graduated from Verdon High School in 1953.

He married his high school sweetheart, Alyce Jean Bennett, on Jan. 29, 1955. Together they had three children and raised their family in Kennard. They spent many happy years in Kennard going to the Methodist Church before selling the big house and moving to Tekamah.

Mr. Goolsby enjoyed camping, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. He retired from Alford Tire in 1997 after 35 years of services. Mr. and Mrs. Goolsby started going to Texas in the winter of 2005. At first, they took their fifth-wheel camper but eventually purchased a park home there.

He is survived by his wife, Alyce; daughter, Deborah Goolsby; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Katherine A. Goolsby, Bradley and Katherine K.Goolsby; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters Dorothy, Betty, Ilene and Mary Lou.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Richard.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services 10am Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, NE. Visitation Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Verdon Cemetery.
