Great-grandmother to 15, Great-great to 2

Former Arlington and Omaha resident Ethel G. Halley, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Fremont Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Ethel Grace Goodell was born July 22, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John Taylor and Rene Marie (Porter) Goodell.

She grew up in Des Moines, where she met her future husband, William Earl Halley. The couple married on May 2, 1942, in Bethany, Mo.

The couple moved to Omaha in the 1940s where they raised their eight children.

Mrs. Halley was retired from ConAgra Foods Corporation and enjoyed bowling, traveling and her family.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol M. and James Smith of Liberty Hills, Texas, and Jean E. and Michael Dailey of Cedar Park, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Flora Halley Jr. of Victorville, Calif., Stephen A. and Tina Halley of Arlington, and Kevin M. and Rosie Halley of Wenatchee, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1987; a brother, John R. Goodell; and three sons, David R. Halley, John T. Halley, and Timothy P. Halley.

A memorial has been established to the Church of the Nazarene.

Dugan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
