Lyle E. Ebel, 86

Lyle E. "Tuffy" Ebel, 86, of South Sioux City, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at a South Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Services were held Wednesday, July 26, at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dale Jirousek officiating. Interment was in Dakota City Cemetery.

Lyle E. Ebel was born June 30, 1914, in Dakota City, the son of Joseph and Alice (Wilson) Ebel.

He married Charlotte L. Sharp on Oct. 9, 1943, in South Sioux City. He was employed as a bus driver and as the transportation co-ordinator for the South Sioux City Schools before retiring.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Robert "Red" Jensen of Blair, and Cheri and Dennis Wilde of Sioux City; a brother, Richard, of Alta, Okla.; two sisters, Betty Manke of Omaha and Mary Lou Becker of Alliance; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Billy Bob; and three sisters, Gertrude Lord, Maxine Green and Lois Lord.

Becker-Hunt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
