Elmer “Jess” Jespersen, 90, of Modesto, Calif. Died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Doctors Medical Center.

Services were March 7, at Centennary United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.

Elmer Jespersen was a native of Herman. He lived in Modesto, Calif., for 46 years. He was a sales department manager for Sears, Roebuck and Co. He belonged to the Modesto Organ Buffs, the Senior Bowlers Association, the 3-Cent Fellowship Club, the Danish Lodge, Bornholm 14 and the Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah “Betty” Jespersen of Modesto, Calif.; two sons, Gary A. Jespersen of Modesto, Calif.; and Donald A. Jespersen of Stockton, Calif.; a daughter, Janet E. Burton of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two stepchildren, Richard Koester of Riverbank, Calif.; and David Koester of Modesto, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
