FRANCIS CARLBERG

Francis L. “Carl” Carlberg, 92, of Sacramento, Calif., died Oct. 16, 2010.

He was born March 5, 1918, in Arlington. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was chief petty officer during World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a purchasing agent and price analyst at McClellan Air Force Base for 17 years. He then worked as a real estate agent, investing in rental properties.

Survivors include: a sister, Verda (Duane) Knoell; a daughter, Dona (Denis) Zilaff; two grandchildren; and two stepchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, his first and second wives and a daughter.

A memorial service was held Nov. 1 at Sacred Heart Church in Sacramento.

Memorials have been established to Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.
