SERVICES FOR EDNA CHRISTENSEN HELD MONDAY

Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, 1979 for Edna Christensen, long time Washington county resident.

Services were in the First Baptist Church of Herman with Rev. Barbara Schenkel officiating. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Edna Winifred Christensen, one of six children of Otice and Cora Yowell, was born February 7, 1901, at Herman, Nebraska. She died March 3, 1979 at the Dodge County Hospital in Fremont, Nebraska. She attended Herman School and graduated in 1919, after which she completed Normal Training at Wayne State College. She taught rural school west of Blair. Edna was a lifetime member of the Baptist Church of Herman.

In 1922, she was united in marriage to William Peter Christensen. The couple resided on a farm southwest of Herman. Two children, Lela Rose and Kenneth Lee blessed this union. In 1943, the family moved to a farm south of Tekamah, where they lived until 1954. After one year in Eugene, Oregon, they returned to Nebraska and made Blair their home.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by two children, Lela Silverman of San Anselmo, California and Kenneth of Wahoo, Nebraska; one brother, Allen Yowell of Herman; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered for her pleasant personality and her thoughtfulness toward others.

Pallbearers were Alvin Christensen, Niels Christensen, Ervin Clements, Eugene Clements, Vernon Clements and Wilbur Clements.
