JAMES DELINGER DIED SATURDAY

BLAIR MAN, 82, A FORMER FARMER, IS BURIED MONDAY AT STANTON

James Andrew Delinger, aged 82, a resident of Blair for 20 years, succumbed at his residence on east Park street Saturday morning after a two-weeks illness. Mr. Delinger was an uncle of James L. “Pepper” Martin, famous baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The son of Jacob and Polly Delinger, he was born at (sp?) Swgelwhier, North Carolina, March 29, 1853 and spent the early part of his life in that state.

On January 6, 1887, he was married to Harriet Matney at Stanton, Nebraska. He and his wife later moved to Petersburg, where they lived until 20 years ago, when they came to Blair. During his residence outstate, Mr. Delinger was a farmer and later an expressman.

Surviving are his wife; three children, Mrs. Frank Fischer of Blair, Mrs. C.B. Nelsen of Omaha and Mrs. R.H. Robinson of Blair; and a brother, Warren Delinger, Bladenboro, North Carolina.

Funeral services were held at Campbell’s mortuary Monday afternoon, the Rev. Thomas J. Reese of the Baptist church officiating. Interment was at Stanton.

Present at graveside services at Stanton was his only niece, Mrs. Hal Gillin of that community.

JAMES DELINGER PASSES AWAY

James Andrew Delingner passed away last Saturday, November 9, after an illness of about two weeks' duration. Deceased was born March 29, 1853 at Sweetwater, N.C. and was thus past 82 years of age at his death.

He was married to Harriet Matney January 6, 1887, and to them five children were born, four of whom, with the wife, still survive him, Mrs. George DeBolt having preceded him in death on August 7, 1928. Mr. Delinger was a man of honorable habits, quiet and unassuming and has many friends who will miss him.

Those surviving in the immediate family are the wife, Warren Delingner of Bladanboro, N.C.; Mrs. Frank Fischer and Mrs. R. H. Robinson of Blair and Mrs. C. B. Nelsen of Omaha.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary at 10:30 Monday morning, and interment was made at Stanton, Nebr., his old home before going to Blair.
