SERVICES HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. FRED JIPP

Mrs. Fred (Christine) Jipp passed away August 17th at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair, where she had resided for only a few months.

She was born January 2, 1886 to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Feer in the Swaburg community in Burt County and was baptized in the Swaburg Lutheran Church.

In January of 1907 , Christine Priscilla Feer was married to Louis Valasak. They were the parents of three children, Evans Valasak of Columbus, Nebr., Mrs. Fred Gilliland (Helen) of Blair and Elmer, who died in 1936. Mr. Valasak died January, 1925.

On December 1942 she married Fred Jipp of Ft. Calhoun. They lived in Ft. Calhoun until the death of Mr. Jipp in August of 1964. She then made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gilliland in Blair until going to the Good Shepherd Home a few months ago.

She was a member of the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, McKinley Chapter 161.

Survivors beside her son and daughter include her sister, Mrs. Leo (Evelyn) Schmitz of Whittier, Calif.; 9 stepchildren, Geo. Jipp, Omaha, Art of Blair; Arnold and Max, Ft. Calhoun; Ernest of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Mary DeHaven of Chula Vista, Calif.; Fritz of National City, Calif.; Richard of Watertown, S.D.; and Mrs. Helen Gregersen of Bennington. There are 32 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock at the First Methodist Church on August 20th. The Rev. Richard Atherton officiated. The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Art Jipp, Don Pierce, Clayton Arnold, Frank Morrison, Ted Bixler and Don Rudolph.
