ERNEST A. JIPP, 86

Fort Calhoun native Ernest A. Jipp, 86, of Santee, C alif., died Tuesday, June 14, 2005. His body was to be cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Ernest A. Jipp was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Fort Calhoun to Fred and Marie (Schumacher) Jipp. He graduated from Fort Calhoun High School in 1936.

In July 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving until 1945 and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On Jan. 1, 1944, he married Lillian Hansen of rural Blair. The couple had three daughters.

Mr. Jipp worked in the aircraft and missile base industry for many years, retiring from Edwards Air Force Base.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; daughters and son-in-law, Diane and James Moore, Cecily Gipson and Erlene Boblett, all of California; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Jipp of Blair.
