MAX JIPP DIES IN FORT CALHOUN

Services were held Monday, October 10, at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home for Max M. Jipp, who died October 8, 1983, at his home after a long illness. The Rev. Darnold of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Max M. Jipp was born in Fort Calhoun on April 28, 1911, to Fred and Marie Jipp. He was a life long resident of Fort Calhoun.

An avid sportsman, he played baseball for over 20 years on the Fort Calhoun Town team. He also managed the team for two years.

He was a member of the International Operating Engineers. He had worked in many phases of contruction during his lifetime.

He married Helen Staben on November 25, 1931. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Lee of Orlando, Florida, and Norman of Fort Calhoun; and a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Jones of Fort Calhoun. Four brothers, Arthur and George of Blair, Arnold of Fort Calhoun, Ernest of Lancaster, California; two sisters, Helen Gregerson of Bennington and Mary Wilderson of Chula Vista, California; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild also survive him.

Pallbearers were John Rathjen, Harold R. (Percy) Wearthers, Ronald Schriener, Albert Suverkrubbe, Reed Smith and Richard Burmeister.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Dusek and Mike Szlachetka.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
