SERVICES HELD SATURDAY FOR “DOOT” JIPP

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 2, 1983, for Richard F. “Doot” Jipp, 74, who passed away suddenly on June 29th, from an apparent heart attack. The funeral was held at Sievers-Sprick Funeral home, with interment in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. A prayer service was also held on Friday evening. Pallbearers were Richard DeBerg, Gary DeBerg, Jean Gregerson, Norman Jipp, Steve Jipp, and Joe Dworak.

Richard was born at Fort Calhoun on April 21, 1909, to Fred and Marie Jipp. He spent much of his life in Fort Calhoun, but worked for the Federal Aviation Administration from 1942 until 1961. From 1962 through 1971, he and his wife, Gertrude, operated a drive-in restaurant in Watertown, South Dakota, later returning to Fort Calhoun. “Doot” served on the Fort Calhoun City Council from 1976-1982, and he and Gert worked in recent years at Pioneer Foods.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Joe Jipp; daughters, Mrs. Ad.J. (Marie) Dworak; Mrs. Dixie Buck; Mrs. Lt. Col. Richard (Joan) Zweis; brothers, Max, Arthur, Arnold, Ernest, and George; sisters, Helen Gregerson and Mary Wilderson; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
