Dorothy A. Smith, 70, of Blair, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

She donated her body to UNMC in hopes that doctors could discover cures for her diseases.

Dorothy A. Sokolowski was born December 31, 1939, in Virginia, Minn., to Frank and Helen Sokolowski.

She lived in Blair for 50 years forming many friendships in that time. She had a passion and talent for crafts, cooking and being a grandmother. She is best remembered by her friends and family as being a loving, giving and selfless person. She always put others before herself.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Jackie Smith of Omaha, Brenda and Howard Steven and their daughter, Katie, of Utah, Lori and Mike Bensen and their son, Jase, of Blair; a brother, Mike O'Klak of Minnesota; a sister, Marie Lund of Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith's daughters invite all family and friends to come "celebrate" her life at a casual open house at 2831 Westridge Drive from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Lunch will be provided.

Memorials will go to a trust account in her name.
