Lois E. Winkler, 83

Formerly of Fort Calhoun

Lois E. Winkler, 83, died Feb. 14, 2012, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Committal of her ashes will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery on June 9.

Lois Elaine Sievers was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Omaha to Richard and Clara (Klindt) Sievers, formerly of Fort Calhoun.

She attended schools in Fort Calhoun and attended the University of Nebraska where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

On March 14, 1950, she married William (Bill) Eugene Winkler in Omaha. They have lived in Oklahoma City since 1970. During that time, she was a member of Our Lord’s Lutheran Church and was past president of the Oklahoma City Geophysical Auxiliary. She was also involved in Meals on Wheels and served as a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital.

She is survived by her husband Bill; four children and their spouses: Julie and Al Kansa, Janice and Dwight DuBois, Richard and Pam Winkler, and Ellen and Richard Orthwein; grandchildren: Mike and Laura Kansa, David DuBois and his wife Cori, Anna DuBois, step-grandson Steve Chase and his wife Sarah, Amy and Stacy Winkler, Joseph and Emily Orthwein; great-grandchildren, Eli and Rory Chase.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Emilie Sievers and Carol Sprick.
