EMELIA WRIGG JOHNSEN, 86

Emelia Wrigg Johnsen, 86, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Elkhorn Manor in Elkhorn.

Services were Thursday, March 23, at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha. Burial was in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha.

Emelia Wrigg was born Oct. 24, 1913, to Claus and Maggie (Brandt) Wrigg.

On April 23, 1935, she married John M. Johnsen. The couple made their home in Washington County, then a few years later moved to Omaha where they lived for 61 years of their marriage.

After her husband died on December 14, 1996, she moved into an assisted living facility. She then moved to Elkhorn Manor for rehabilitation after breaking a hip and wrist.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria A. and Kenneth Nielsen of Omaha; and Vernitta M. and Bryan R. Brown of Omaha; seven grandsons, their wives and children, Roger and Karen Thompson, Cody and Madison of Omaha; Spencer Thompson of Omaha; Darrel and Cynthia Brown and Jacob and Karynn, of Lincoln; Dwayne R. Brown and Juliene and Maryssa of Omaha; and Dale and Carol Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister, Laura Reed of Omaha; three sisters-in-law, Sophie Wrigg of Blair; Marean Wrigg of Waterloo; and Gladys Matzen of Blair; a brother-in-law and wife, Raymond and Florence Johnsen of Bennington; cousins and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Claus, William and Max Wrigg, and three sisters, Bertha Ehlers, Meta Hinrichson and Elsie Lewis.

Boyd Bramen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
