Nurse At Crowell Home For Many Years

Ida L. Metz, 66, of Blair, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. Interment will be at the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the church.

Ida Louise Burns was born Aug. 31, 1945, in Joplin, Mo., to James Rufus and Alice Nadine (George) Burns. She attended school in Auburn and Herman and later attended Metro Technical Community College. She graduated with honors in 1981 and received her LPN. She worked as a nurse for several years at Crowell Memorial Home, retiring in 2005.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tekamah and was a member of the Rachel Circle.

She is survived by her husband, Rolland James Metz of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mike Anderson of Tekamah; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell “Rusty” and Lisa Nelson of Plattsmouth and Daniel and Angie Nelson of Craig; grandchildren, Jazmyn Anderson and Ben Anderson, both of Tekamah, Darik, Jaxon, Blade and Jade Nelson of Plattsmouth, and Shayla Nelson of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Presley Anderson of Tekamah and Valerie Nelson of Denver; step-granddaughters, Bailey Jo Metz and Evelyn Sprick of Blair; brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Diane Burns of Tekamah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nola Nadine and Russ Solberg of Hawarden, Iowa, Sue Lambert of Blair, and Debbie and Mike Scott of Blair; stepdaughters, Amy Sue Hansen and Sheryl Lynn Metz, both of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Freddie Ringer; nephew, Brian Tobin; stepdaughter, Betty Jo Sprick; aunts and uncles.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
