Published in Blair Courier, 10/12/1904

Alfreda Henrietta Johnson, the eighteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Johnson, died at the home of her parents in Dexterville last Sunday morning, as the result of an operation for appendicitis. She was in Omaha when taken sick about two weeks ago but would not consent to an operation until last Friday, when her father brought her home and Drs. Stokes of Omaha, Pruner of Kennard, and Hinchman of this city, performed the operation, hoping to save her life. She seemed better Saturday morning, but the improvement was only temporary and she passed away at 8:25 Sunday morning.

Freda was born in this city, and attended school here until a few years ago when her eyes began to give her trouble and she was compelled to give up school work. About a year ago she went to Omaha and made her home there until forced to return home by sickness. Miss Annie M. Johnson, of Denver, came home to attend the funeral, which was held yesterday at 3 o’clock from the Methodist church, Rev. A.J. Markley officiating. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad hour of bereavement.
