SERVICES THURSDAY FOR ANNIE JOHNSON

Funeral services for Annie Marie Johnson are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Rev. Russell Saltzman officiated with organist Clare Cowing. Burial is at the Kennard Cemetery.

Annie Marie was born May 28, 1894 on a farm south of Kennard to Jens C. and Bodil (Olsen) Christensen. Her family moved to a farm in the McCarthy School District, where she attended grade school. Annie later attended sewing school in Blair, from which she showed her skill for her family and other relatives.

Annie was baptized as a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church and was confirmed April 9, 1911 into the Lutheran Faith.

Annie married Harry Johnson on Nov. 29, 1916 in the home of her parents, and they moved to a farm northeast of Kennard. There she resided until May of 1963, when she moved to Blair.

Annie was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. She moved to the Good Shepherd Home in May of 1979 and resided there until she passed away on Oct. 1, 1984 at the age of 90.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Elmer Thone of Blair, and Geraldine and Kenneth Jensen of Blair; grandchildren, Gail Roesch of La Hadra, California, Gary Petersen of Omaha, and Rodney and Randy Jensen of Blair; sister-in-law, Lydia Christensen; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Lyle and Milo Christensen, Elmer and Leonard Vinderslev, Harold Magill and Darold Webster.
