Place of burial was not recorded.

We are sorry to have to tell about the death of Bengt Johnson which occurred very suddenly last Friday afternoon. He had come to town to see Dr. Anderson and death came to him in the Dr’s. office.

Mr. Johnson has lived near Kennard since 1883, coming here from Omaha that year. He had been married twice and 7 sons were born to him, 3 survive him with his second wife. Mr. Johnson would have been 70 years, had he lived until Dec. 1.

His two sons, Elaf and Carl were here from Thurston for the funeral. The bearers were, John Monson, W.E. Swihart, Ola Jacobson, Thos. Gaines, Carl Lauritsen and Jacob Andreasen. The services were held in the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Andersen who spoke in both English and Danish. The church was crowded with sympathizing friends. Mr. Johnson was known to every one, despite a gruff exterior and manner, he was a kindly old man and a true friend, and he will be greatly missed by all.

CARD OF THANKS: We wish in this way to thank the many friends who were so generous in their help and sympathy during the illness and after the death of Mr. Johnson. Also for the many beautiful floral offerings. Mrs. Bengt Johnson and family

CALLED HERE BY DEATH

Mr. C.E. Johnson, of Thurston county, who was called here on account of the death of his father, Bengt Johnson, at Kennard, called at this office on Tuesday, accompanied by his young brother, John, who lives with his mother on the farm near Kennard. C.E. and his brother, Elof, went up into Thurston county some years ago, before boom prices for land struck that section, and acquired farms near which the lively village of Thurston has been built up and are now thrifty, prosperous farmers, owning considerable land and property in the village.
