BLANCHE JOHNSON, 81

Services for Blanche Johnson, 81 of the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home who died February 22, 1995 were held Saturday, February 25, 1995 at Roschill Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Clifford Branson officiated. Burial was in Hope Cemetery at Newman Grove, Nebraska.

Blanche Irene Brown Johnson was born June 1, 1913 in Dixon, Nebraska to Roy N. and Ella Carter Brown. She graduated from Albion High School in 1930 and later attended Wayne State College and Dana College.

She taught in rural schools in the Newman Grove area until health forced her to retire.

She married Leonard R. Thompson April 10, 1932 at St. Edward, Nebraska. To that union were born two daughters, Dorothy Ann and Alice June and a son, Robert Leonard. Leonard R. Thompson preceded her in death in 1962.

On July 27, 1963, she married Jewell J. Johnson. Joining her family at that time were Wendell, Virginia, Louis, Lola and Patricia.

Blanche and Jewell moved from the Johnson family farm to the Wolf Apartments in Albion in 1986. He preceded her in death in December, 1992.

On March 6, 1994 she suffered a crippling stroke and in June, 1994, she entered the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home, where she resided at the time of her death.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wendell; a grandson, Brian and a brother, Maynard Brown.

She is survived by her children, Dorothy Ann and Duane Callies of Topeka, Kansas; Alice June and Clark Jenson of Blair; Robert Thompson of Carter Lake, Iowa; Norma Johnson of Newman Grove; Virginia Thomsen of Grand Island, Nebraska; Louis and Joyce Johnson of Spring Hill, Kansas; Lola and Gary Muller of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Patricia and Verlyn Carlson of Fremont; three sisters, Wilma Lane of Seattle, Washington; Nell Johnson of Newman Grove and Alyce Cudderford of Kearney, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Hazel Woodworth of Kearney; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
