CONSTANCE JOHNSON, 32

Constance Johnson, 32, of Blair, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso. The Rev. Al Salanitro and the Rev. Thomas Kuffel will officiate. Interment will be at St. Vitus Cemetery, Touhy.

Constance Johnson was born June 12, 1968, in Seward to Eugene and Mary Ann (Sedlak) Masek.

She was a graduate of Bishop Neumann Central Catholic High School, and held a bachelor’s degree from Hastings College.

On May 30, 1992, she married David M. Johnson in Columbus.

Mrs. Johnson was a school teacher, and taught at District 9 School in Columbus, and at Canistota, S.D. High School, prior to teaching at Arbor Park Middle School in Blair. During the summer, she worked as an assistant to her husband, who was the golf pro at Hartford, S.D., and Blair.

She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. She served as a religious education instructor at her former parish in South Dakota; coached soccer, softball, volleyball and basketball on various levels; was active in the Big Sisters/Little Sisters organization while in Columbus; and served as Tiger Cub leader and secretary of the Jaycees while in Hartford.

She is survived by her husband, David; sons, Alex, Seth and Conner; parents, Eugene and Mary Ann Masek of Ceresco; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome and Carisa Masek of Ceresco, and Andrew and Jill Masek of Plymouth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Dan Gruenes of Leshara, and Rebecca and Ron Gruenes of Mankato, Minn.; nieces and nephews; grandparents, Joe and Mary Masek of Valparaiso, and Catherine Sedlak of Seward; father-in-law, Jack Johnson of Columbus; sisters-in-law and spouse, Susan and Mike Bustamante of Kansas City, Mo. and Judy Dieter of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Masek; grandfather, Ivan Sedlak, and mother-in-law, Catherine Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Children’s Education Fund.

Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.
