SERVICES TO BE ON WEDNESDAY FOR WAR VETERAN

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. at First Methodist Church for Clyde A. Johnson, 65, who died at Methodist Hospital on December 27, 1980.

Rev. George Patterson will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Clyde A. Johnson was born on January 21, 1915, at Oakland, Nebraska, to August and Carrie Larsen Johnson. He married Harriet Wickstrom on December 15, 1942.

He served with the Army during World War II. He participated in the Invasion of Normandy and served during campaigns in Normandy, Ardenees, Western Germany, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was wounded in action in France during the war. He received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, American Defense Service Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infrantryman Badge, EAME Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars and Arrowhead.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, was a Past Quarter Master of the VFW and a Trustee of First Methodist Church. He had been a maintenance superintendent at Dana College since 1962.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet, Blair; one son, Richard Johnson, Blair; one daughter, Caroline Smith of Omaha; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Johnson, also of Blair. Three brothers, Clifford Johnson, Omaha; Carrol Johnson, Oakland, Nebraska; and Cameron Johnson, Uehling, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia McCormick, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Vivian Johnson, Craig, Nebraska; two aunts, Julie Larsen, Uehing, and Emma Phillips, Fremont, and six grandchildren also survive him.

Pallbearers will be Harold Michaelson, Jim Williby, Bill Williby, George Suverkrubbe, Keith Hansen and Arvin Hernes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Matson, Gene Thomas, Willard Meier, Lloyd Petersen, A.J. Snowbeck, Art Beck and Dr. C.C. Madsen.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
