Bruce Gaines passed away at his home in Union City, California, on February 27, 1985. He lived in Blair until moving to California in 1963.

He was born in Atlantic, Iowa, on June 19, 1922.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Aten Gaines, one son Rodney and a daughter Becky. Also two grandchildren in California, a brother Wayne and a sister Maxine of Atlantic, Iowa.

Burial was in Hayward, California.
