Delbert Gaines, age 41, of Peru, Nebr., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gaines of the Dale Neighborhood and a former Arlington resident, passed away at Afton, Wyoming.

Mr. and Mrs. Gaines, Julia, Gregory and Kelly were vacationing in Yellowstone Park when Delbert became ill and entered the hospital at Afton, Wyo. on Wed., July 24. He passed away at the hospital in Afton on Friday, July 26.

Survivors include his wife, Anita, the former Anita French, one son, Gregory, and 3 daughters, Debra, Julia and Kelly; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Martens and Mrs. Richard Schlapfer of Arlington.

An infant son, Richard Lee, and his parents preceded him in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Gaines made their home in Blair for several years while employed at Dana College. In 1964 the Gaines family moved to Peru. Delbert has been employed at the State College in Peru since that time.

Memorial services for Delbert Gaines were held Sunday, July 28, at the Chapel on the college grounds at Peru.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 29, at the Methodist Church in Arlington with Rev. Robert D. Lynder of Peru officiating.

Casket bearers were Everett Claussen, Harold Patterson, Ed Meyers, Eldon Allgood, William Tyson and George Graston. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Hoffman, Henry Frye, Clyde Johnson, Dale Matson, Chalmer Cox and Earl Stover with burial in Arlington Cemetery. Reckmeyer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
