Services were Saturday, March 14 at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington for Carson B. Gaines, 83, of Arlington, who died March 11, 1992, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Rev. Lee Milligan officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Carson B. Gaines was born March 20, 1908, in rural Fremont. He lived in the rural Fremont area until he was eight years old at which time he moved west of Arlington. He attended a rural grade school near Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1926.

He farmed during his entire working life and lived most of his married life west of Arlington. He retired from farming in 1990 and moved into Arlington at that time.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 at Fremont and Arlington Community Church.

He married Gladys D. Wilson March 24, 1940, at Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton A. and Maude Fletcher Gaines and a brother, Aubrey.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Gwen Matter of Fremont and Nola (Mrs. Donald) Nielsen of Reseda, California; two sisters, Leneah Nelson of Flint, Michigan, and Arlene (Mrs. Norvin) Sheeley of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Carroll Day, Keith Hindmarsh, Kenneth Hein and Dave Matter.

Pallbearers were Fred Bremer, Bud Gaines, Wilbur Grefe, Bob French, George Haney and Richard Brostad.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
