Dennis L. Dean, 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at his home in Omaha.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life and to share memories Sunday, March 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 513 S. 184th St. Elkhorn, NE. 68022. There will be no services. Condolences and memorials may be sent to that address.

Dennis L. Dean was born June 1, 1949, in Oakland, to Walter and Darlene (Sanderson) Dean. He grew up in Lyons, Tekamah and Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1967.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge he served on the Blair Police Department for three years. In 1974, he joined the Fremont Police Department where he served until 1994.

He married Marcia Sachs on January 18, 1975, at First Methodist Church in Fremont. They have lived in Omaha since 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Chad Kampschneider of Elkhorn; son, Brian Dean of Omaha; two grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Reggie Dean of Lincoln; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Grasmick of Fremont; sisters-in-law, Kristie Mosher of Florida and Glenda and Bill Rathjen of Fort Calhoun; brother-in-law, Hunington and Suzy Sachs of California.

Ludvigsen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
