Quilted More Than 100 Quilts In Her Lifetime

Evelyn Magill, 101, of Herman, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Autumn Pointe in Fort Calhoun.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at the Herman Community Church. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m.

Evelyn Enger was born June 28, 1910, on a farm northwest of Herman in Burt County to Hans Frederick and Mary (Sorensen) Enger. She graduated from Herman High School in 1927.

She attended Wayne State Teacher’s College and got her teaching degree and taught in Burt County at Blackstone School for one year.

In 1937, she married A. I. Magill of Herman in Fremont.

Mrs. Magill was known to all to be a positive person. She spent most of her lifetime quilting. She quilted approximately 100+ quilts, belonging to various quilting clubs and the Jolly Workers Club. She was a member of the Herman Methodist Church and the UMA Club. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Jensen of Omaha; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. I. ; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Magill; three brothers Al, Victor, and Howard; two sisters, Viola and Mildred; and one brother who died at birth.
