Howard L. Taylor, 77

Regular Mail Carrier On Route 1 For 20 Years

Howard L. Taylor, 77, of Blair, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

. Howard LeRoy Taylor was born January 18, 1935, in Arlington to Howard W. and Nellie (Spiker) Taylor. He spent his entire life in the Orum area and graduated from Blair High School. He served in the United States Naval Reserve.

Mr. Taylor was happy in his life as a farmer working with the crops in the different seasons, especially hay. He had a fondness for Minneapolis Moline tractors and later for John Deere. He took pleasure in visiting with customers along the mail route. He was a substitute rural carrier for more than 20 years for both George Campbell and Richard (Moose) Zimmerman and was the regular carrier on Route 1 for 20 years. A family highlight each year were the family vacations which have given wonderful memories over the years.

Howard and Linda (Whaley) met in Omaha and were married after she graduated from nursing school. They were united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son and daughter-in-law, David and Terri Taylor; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and David Mahoney and Annie and Brian Hampton; grandchildren, Dani and Wade Hampton, Sydney and Kylie Taylor, and Ava, Gage and Gavin Mahoney; sister-in-law, Susan Taylor; and his nephew Paul Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Taylor, and sister Susan Davison.

Memorials may be directed to Blair Fire and Rescue, the Salvation Army or the Rose Hill Cemetery Association.
