A FATAL ACCIDENT

ARLINGTON TIMES:

A very sad and fatal accident occurred 2 miles west of Arlington on last Tuesday afternoon at about 1 o’clock, at the residence of Chas. Johnson. Roy, the 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, hearing a noise on the doorstep, the thought of burglars entered his mind. (That subject had been discussed, it seems, at the dinner table a short time before.) The boy went to the bureau and took out a 32 calibre revolver from the drawer, opened the door leading to the porch and fired the pistol. The discharge took effect in his little sister Dolly’s head, killing her almost instantly. Dr. Hadley was sent for in haste and went to the scene of the accident, but of course the little girl was dead before he reached the house.

The funeral of little Dolly was held on Wednesday afternoon, and her remains laid away in Arlington cemetery.
