# 1 - - EMIL J. JOHNSON, 91

Funeral services were Wednesday, August 1 at St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church for Emil J. Johnson, 92 of Scribner who died July 30, 1990 at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. Rev. Frezil and Rev. Douglas Westerlund officiated. Burial was in the Scribner Cemetery.

Emil J. Johnson farmed north of Arlington for seven years after his marriage. He moved to Dodge County in 1934 and farmed in the Scribner area until he retired and moved into Scribner in 1960. He had been a resident of Good Samaritan Home for the past 1 ½ years.

He was a member of St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church and served on the church council for several years; was on District No. 12 School Board for many years; was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America; a pitcher for the Scribner softball team; and a member of the Scribner Saddle Club.

He married Bernice Alexander November 18, 1925 in Wayne. She preceded him in death July 19, 1990.

Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Spath of Scribner; Janis (Mrs. LeRoy) Poppe of Scribner; and Doris (Mrs. Robert) Schroeder of Kearney; a son, Russel of Scribner; two sisters, Minnie Rasmussen and Huldah Lundstedt, both of Glendale, California; two brothers, Gilbert of Glendale, California and Glifford of Fremont; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established to the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner and the church.

SCRIBNER - - - The funeral for Emil J. Johnson, 91, of Scribner will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church.

Mr. Johnson died Monday, July 30, 1990, at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. He was a retired farmer.

He farmed north of Arlington for seven years after his marriage. He moved to Dodge County in 1934, and farmed in the Scribner area until he retired and moved into Scribner in 1960. He was a resident at the Good Samaritan Home for the past 1 ½ years.
