Charles D. Kelly, 85

An Avid “Rock Hound”

Charles D. Kelly, 85, of Blair, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family graveside services will be at a later date.

Charles D. Kelly was born on November 10, 1926, to Alvin and Helen (Olson) Kelly near Walthill.

He met his wife Maxine Domninse in Walthill and they were married on October 25, 1950. Charles and Maxine moved to Blair in 1954 where he was a long-time resident and member of the Blair Community.

In his early years, he worked at Independent Metal in Omaha and later at Kelly Ryan Equipment.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed many hobbies. Being an avid “rock hound” kept him busy as he enjoyed lapidary work, making different types of jewelry with the rock he found, then sharing them as gifts for friends and relatives.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maxine; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Diane Kelly of Papillion; a son, Bruce Kelly, and fiancé Jennifer Johnson of Tekamah; a daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Mike Williamsen of Blair; four siblings, Frances, Betty, Alice and Connie; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children and many relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Donnie and George.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Odyssey Hospice.
