Former Telbasta Resident

Iola “Ole” Meierhenry, 100, of Fremont, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont.

Services will be Monday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Iola Shipman was born March 1, 1912, at Havelock to Herbert and Jessie (Hartshorn) Shipman. She was a graduate of Havelock High School.

She married Harold Meierhenry on September 10, 1933 at Havelock. The couple farmed near Telbasta for 50 years until moving to Fremont in 1979.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #375, Order of Eastern Star at Havelock and a former member of the Havelock Congregational Church. She was a former member of the E.U.B. Telbasta Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of the Pleasant Hour Club and the Baker’s Dozen Sunshine Club at Telbasta. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Fremont.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn & Orvin Scheer of Arlington, Marilyn and Phil Katt of Fremont and Judy and Vernon Geisler of Hooper; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence, Wayne, Harold and Clayton Shipman.

Memorials may be given to the church or Camp Fontanelle.
