Marie A. Neuman-Tobin, 73

Former Blair Resident

Marie A. Neuman–Tobin, 73, of Tekamah, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.

Marie Ann Studeny was born January 14, 1939 to Adolph and Mary Studeny in Colome, S.D.

She attended school in Colome until her parents moved to Blair. She graduated from Blair High School in 1957.

She married John H. Neuman on June 27, 1959. They lived in Blair until 1968 when they moved to Herman. She was employed at Mutual of Omaha for 23 years.

She married James R. Tobin Sr. on July 30, 2005.

Mrs. Neuman-Tobin was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah. She was a member of the Chatt Senior Center and enjoyed doing volunteer work for both the church and the senior center. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great–grandchildren.

She enjoyed life very much and was a member of the Red Hat Attitude in Tekamah.

She also enjoyed traveling and recently traveled to Branson with her friends and Mexico with her siblings.

Marie enjoyed bowling at the Tiger Bowl and went to state bowling tournaments. She later enjoyed Wii bowling at the Chatt Senior Center. She also enjoyed playing cards. She was a previous member of the T.O.P.S. Club and Weight Watchers.

She is survived by her husband, James Tobin Sr.; her children, Kent and Cathy Neuman of Fremont, John and Pam Neuman of Omaha, Michael and Christine Neuman of Lincoln, Theresa and Scott Bokelman of Saratoga, Wyo., and Lori and Jim Sperry of Elkhorn; 12 grandchildren, four great-granddaughters; step-children, DeeAnna Gowen of Papillion, Nancy Montes of Dillon, Texas, Bill and Tracy Tobin of Honolulu, Hawaii and James Tobin, Jr. of Blair; 10 step grandchildren and two step great-grandsons; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Darrel Madsen; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Margaret Studeny of Fremont, Ronald Studeny of Arvada, Colo., and Tom and Donna Tobin of Tekamah; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Neuman; sister-in-law, Leslie Studeny and step-son-in-law, Larry Gowen.
