Ruth Teebken, 74

Ruth Teebken, 74, of Fremont, formerly of Fontanelle, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, in Omaha at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Services were Thursday, March 15, at Fremont Alliance Church. Interment was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Fontanelle.

Ruth Monke was born September 10, 1937, in Fremont to Luther and Wilmeth (Williams) Monke. She grew up in the Telbasta area of Washington County and attended a one-room country school. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1955.

On March 26, 1955, Ruth Monke was married to Richard ‘Dick’ Teebken in Mississippi while he was serving in the United States Coast Guard. He left the states soon after and Ruth returned to Fremont, and then six months later she joined him in Honolulu where they lived for two years.

Following his service they returned to Fremont where they lived for four years. They built a home in Fontanelle where they lived for 30 years. They have lived in Fremont the past 12 years.

Mrs. Teebken was a member of the Fremont Alliance Church where for the last several years she has led the Wednesday night Awana girls. For several years she was the local Chairman of the National Day of Prayer. She led high school Bible studies and Sunday School classes for international students from Midland College. She also went on mission trips to Kenya and Hungary.

She is survived by her husband, Dick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kara and Bradley Brown of Lincoln and Beth and Gary Morris of Fremont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Diane Teebken of Seattle, Wash., and Jeff and Jennifer Teebken of Longmont, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Jim Keeler of Fremont; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Monke of Fremont; and a sister-in-law, Helen Monke of Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William ‘Bill’ Monke.

Memorials are suggested to the Ceria Missionary Fund of the Fremont Alliance Church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
