Enjoyed Camping And Cooking For Her Family

Alyce J. Goolsby, 75, of Tekamah died Friday, March 23, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Verdon Cemetery in Verdon. Visitation was Monday starting at 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Alyce Jean Bennett was born March 6, 1937, to Hannibal Luther and Helen Winifred (Drake) Bennett. She graduated from Verdon High School in 1954.

She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Goolsby, on January 29, 1955. They lived in Kennard. After their children were grown, Mrs. Goolsby completed her college degree and graduated in 1983 from Dana College. She continued her schooling earning a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

She taught school at Wranch Country School and Washington Public School until its consolidation with Bennington Public School.

She retired from Bennington in 2003. Mrs. Goolsby enjoyed camping and cooking for her family and friends. In 2005, the couple became winter Texans.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Katherine A. Goolsby and Bradley and Katherine K. Goolsby; daughter, Deborah Goolsby; 7 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gayle and Mary Bennett and Dan and Gail Bennett; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the church of the donor’s choice.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
