Sylvia Ehlers, 90

Former Fort Calhoun resident Sylvia Ehlers, 90, of O'Neill, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in O'Neill.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, at Faith Community Church in O'Neill, with a 2 p.m. graveside service at the Chambers Cemetery.

Sylvia Logemann was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Bennington to August and Elsie (Meeves) Logemann. She graduated from Bennington High School and attended the Grand Island School of Business for two years.

She worked for the United States government in the War Department at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., for two years.

On Aug. 23, 1944, she married Fred Ehlers at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. The couple had two children. Mrs. Ehlers was a homemaker and took care of her family while enjoying cooking, gardening and sewing.

She was a member of the Extension clubs in Washington County. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun where she served as the church secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, of O'Neill; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy Ehlers of Amelia; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Dennis Murphy of Atkinson; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Adelyn Stuart of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, Marion Logemann of Omaha; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Alvin and Rollin Logemann.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.
