Gil G. Garner, 72, of Blair, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at First Baptist Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Gil G. Garner was born May 13, 1926, in Blair to Nicholas and Ruth (Cradit) Garner. His entire childhood was spent in Blair where he attended school. He entered business with his father in running the Blair Transfer.

He was married to Janice Petersen and then on Sept. 17, 1960, he married Naomi Baker of Kennard in Fremont.

He worked in the trucking business for the last 40 years. He retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi; six step-children and their spouses, Gary and Debbie Baker of Omaha; Bob and Linda Baker of Peru, Ill., Lewie and Bev Baker of Omaha, Randy and Sue Baker of Colfax, Iowa, Bev and Don Brase of Columbus and Cheryl and Derald Erickson of Arlington; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Wehrli of Blair; one nephew, two nieces, three great-nephews and two great-nieces.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
