Former Blairite Stricken Sunday

Mrs. Johanna Garske, a former Blair resident but currently living at 1820 North 32nd Street, Omaha, died Monday of a heart ailment. Mrs. Garske, who was 74 years of age, was visiting at the home of her brother, Hjalmer Quist when stricken Sunday. The Rescue Squad was called to take her to the hospital.

Mrs. Garske is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Janette Wood of Omaha; grandson, Larry, sister, Anna Quist of Omaha; brothers, Hjalmer, Alfred and Edward Quist of Blair and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Garske was born January 1, 1891, in Sweden. At the age of one year she came to Blair with her parents and three sisters and grew to womanhood here. July 5, 1922, she married Reinhold L. Garske who died in 1949. The couple moved from Blair to Omaha a few years after their marriage. Mrs. Garske has resided in Omaha the past 35 years.

Pallbearers were her brothers, Hjalmer, Alfred and Edward Quist, grandsons, Roland Richter, James Jensen and Stanley Soske.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Blair, the Rev. George Pallesen conducting the service.

Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home, was made in the Blair Cemetery.
